Special interest in melanoma and colorectal surgery and research.

I am a Dutch general, gastro-intestinal and oncological surgeon, Dutch board certified. I have been trained as a surgeon in the Netherlands at the Leiden University Medical Center and I have done fellowships at the Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam (NL), and at Flinders MC (Adelaide, Aus) and Royal Adelaide Hospital (AUS).
I am currently working as a clinical and research fellow within the Colorectal Unit of the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
I have obtained my PhD in 2009 from the University of Groningen, based on work from the University of Michigan Health Systems, Ann Arbor, USA and the Melanoma Institute Australia in Sydney, Australia

I am a Dutch medical board certified general, oncological and gastro-intestinal surgeon. My research is aimed at improving quality, safety and survival of surgical care of our patients, mainly with melanoma and colorectal cancer.

Since 2020 I have been appointed as Associate Professor of Surgery, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Adelaide
