Helen is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and Lecturer within the School of Allied Health Science and Practice. In her clinical practice, Helen has over 16 years' experience working with an adult caseload across the care pathway, in a diverse range of clinical contexts, including health service roles, private practice and the NDIS. Helen completed her Master of Speech Pathology at the University of Sheffield (UK) in 2008. She is currently undertaking her PhD in the area of returning to driving with aphasia post-stroke at the Queensland Aphasia Research Centre, University of Queensland. Helen is also a member of the Collaboration of Aphasia Trialists (CATs) Language and Cognition Working Group and a Stroke Portfolio Member of the Queensland Brain Injury Collaborative.

Helen teaches into third year Speech Pathology courses focusing on the clinical application of speech pathology assessment and management, and is the Speech Pathology representative for the School's interprofessional learning committee. She is also an Associate Advisor for an Honours Project investigating Speech Pathologists' and Speech Pathology Managers' perspectives and experiences related to the use of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in clinical practice for aphasia at the University of Queensland.
