I'm a teaching and research Professor of Psychology and an outstanding mid-career researcher with an international reputation for excellence in the fields of cognitive ageing and late-life cognitive impairments. I have published >130 papers and have secured >AU$11M in research funding. Recognition of research leadership excellence is demonstrated by being a finalist for a 2021 SA Winnovation Award Science Category and 2022 The Advertiser/Sunday Mail SA Women of the Year Award Science Category. I am the current Chair of the Australian Academy of Science National Committee for the Brain and Mind and was President of the Australasian Cognitive Neuroscience Society in 2022. I lead the Cognitive Ageing and Impairment Neurosciences (CAIN) laboratory with Prof Tobias Loetscher and A/Prof Mitch Goldsworthy. My research focuses on cognitive ageing and cognitive impairments, such as dementia and delirium. I am particularly interested in cardiometabolic contributions to cognitive ageing, the neurophysiology and neuropsychology of delirium, delirium rehabilitation, and social cognitive ageing. Our lab has worked with local councils to develop evidence-based dementia education programs for primary school children and wellbeing workshop materials for older adults. I currently lead a NHMRC Ideas Grant (Predicting delirium vulnerability from pre-surgery neurophysiological measures), a The Hospital Research Foundation Grant (Help After Leaving hospiTal Trial: a co-produced multidisciplinary and tailored intervention to prevent decline after in-hospital delirium), and a Heart Foundation Vanguard Grant (psychological therapy for adults with atrial fibrillation). I am a Chief Investigator on the NHMRC CRE for atrial fibrillation care. I primarily teach cognitive neuroscience, research methods and statistics. Prior to joining UniSA (now Adelaide University) in 2011, I held post-doctoral positions at the University of Cambridge 2007-11.

Fields: cognitive neuroscience, cognitive ageing, cognitive psychology, depression and anxiety.

Areas: cognition, dementia, delirium, cardiovascular, cardiometabolic, ageing, cognitive reserve.

Methods: behavioural testing, electroencephalogram (EEG), event-related potentials (ERPs), transcranial Doppler (TCD).
