I have been a teaching-research psychology academic at UniSA since 2011.
In terms of teaching at UniSA, I co-developed the cognitive neuroscience major in 2012-13, have taught research methods and statistics from years 1 to 3, and am currently the Psychology Honours Coordinator.
My research focuses on cognitive ageing and cognitive impairments, such as dementia and delirium. I lead the Cognitive Ageing and Impairment Neurosciences (CAIN) laboratory with Prof Tobias Loetscher, which is part of the BBB Research Centre. I am particularly interested in cardiometabolic contributions to cognitive ageing, the neurophysiology and neuropsychology of delirium, delirium rehabilitation, and social cognitive ageing. Our lab has worked with local councils to develop evidence-based dementia education programs for primary school children and wellbeing workshop materials for older adults.
I currently hold a NHMRC Ideas Grant (Predicting delirium vulnerability from pre-surgery neurophysiological measures) and a The Hospital Research Foundation Grant (Help After Leaving hospiTal Trial: a co-produced multidisciplinary and tailored intervention to prevent decline after in-hospital delirium). I am also a CI on the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence for Atrial Fibrillation (AF-CARE).
I was President of the Australasian Cognitive Neuroscience Society in 2022 and currently sit on the Australian Academy of Science National Committee for the Brain and Mind. Prior to joining UniSA in 2011, I held post-doctoral positions at the University of Cambridge (2007-11).
