Mr Hamid Esfandiari
Higher Degree by Research Candidate
School of Chemical Engineering
College of Engineering and Information Technology
I hold a BSc and MSc in Petroleum Engineering from the Petroleum University of Technology (Iran) and I am currently a PhD candidate in Geo-Storage Engineering at The University of Adelaide.
My research focuses on underground hydrogen storage, with particular emphasis on the complex interactions between fluids, minerals, and microbial activity in subsurface systems. My work is multidisciplinary, integrating reservoir engineering, microbiology, and geochemistry to better understand subsurface energy processes.
I work on reactive multi-phase flow and interfacial phenomena in porous media using both experimental and simulation approaches. My research aims to improve the safety, efficiency, and long-term performance of hydrogen storage as part of the transition to low-carbon energy systems.
Research Interests & Applications: GeoEnergy and GeoStorage; multi-phase reactive flow in porous media; carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS); geological hydrogen storage (UHS); enhanced oil and gas recovery (EOR).
