Guanhua Tao (Todd) is an aspiring cross-disciplinary researcher at the University of Adelaide. Before entering academia, he worked for several years in industry as a landscape architect in China (2017–2022). His design practice spans a wide range of project types, including urban design, residential landscape development, public-space renewal, children’s parks, and ecological park planning. He collaborated with major developers and government clients, and his work—together with his team—received recognition through both national and international awards.
After relocating to Australia, Todd completed a Master of Computing and Innovation at the University of Adelaide, graduating with strong academic performance. During this period, he developed a particular interest in the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence to support ecological restoration and sustainable development.
Todd is now undertaking interdisciplinary research on A Computational Framework for Flood-Resilient Land-Use Planning in Coastal Metropolitan Areas. His work brings together flood-risk assessment, land-use modelling, and data-driven methods, with the goal of supporting more resilient urban planning and decision-making in flood-prone coastal environments.
He welcomes discussion and collaboration across related fields.
