Gizat Kassie is a Research Fellow in quality use of medicine research at UniSA. Gizat completed his PhD in 2019 at the University of South Australia (UniSA) with a thesis titled ‘Targeting medicines in the prevention of delirium in older patients: a principal role for pharmacists’. His prior educational qualifications include BPharm and MSc in clinical pharmacy and has versatile professional experiences as a lecturer, training advisor and clinical pharmacist.
Gizat’s research interests include medication use and safety in older people, medication use and risk for cognitive impairment, pharmacy practice research and pharmacy education. He particularly aspires to identify and characterise problems in medication use and health service provision in older people, design methods and interventions promoting appropriate medication use at patient and population levels.
Gizat is currently leading and being involved in pharmacoepidemiology research in the Veterans' Medicines Advice and Therapeutics Education Services project at the Quality Use of Medicines and Pharmacy Research Centre, UniSA.
