Gelshan Godahewa

My research covers recent advances in the capabilities of vertebrate genome engineering, in order to pursue novel possibilities for vertebrate biotechnology. Current projects include developing CRISPR/Cas-based genetic biocontrol strategies for invasive rodent population suppression. I joined Prof. Thomas’ Genome Editing Laboratory at The University of Adelaide/SAHMRI in 2019. Here, we use mouse embryonic stem cells to test our CRISPR techniques followed by injecting them into mouse embryos to generate transgenic gene drive mice.
