Gabriela is a graduate Dietitian who studied a 5 year Nutrition and Metabolism degree at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, specializing in Clinical Nutrition. Her Honours project was conducted in the hospital setting and investigated the role of obesity, oxidative stress and dietary intake in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis patients. Gabriela has been awarded two government research scholarships and another government scholarship to study abroad at The University of Adelaide, as part of the “Science without Borders” program.

Currently Gabriela is conducting her PhD at The University of Adelaide under an Early life nutrition University scholarship where she is investigating determinants of human milk composition (macronutrients and metabolic hormones), and maternal diet and health outcomes.
