Fluidized bed spray coaters is one of the main units in the tablet production process in pharmaceutical industry. The aim of my research project is modeling and simulation of this unit to study the effect of size and shap of the particles on the process performance. I am going to use a multi scale approach (Discrete Element Method- Computational Fluid Dynamics) to capture movements of each individual particle in the working fluid. This research is supported by Mayne Pharma company and the developed mathematical model will be validated by the provided industrial data. The outcomes of this study will help to get a better insight in the process and provide guidlins for the process scale up and optimization.
