The Alzheimer's Disease Genetics Laboratory at The University of Adelaide uses molecular and bioinformatic techniques to analyse Alzheimer's and Sanfilippo Disease-linked gene orthologs in Zebrafish (Danio rerio).
Currently my work centers around the creation and investigation of MPS III (Sanfilippo syndrome, a severe child-onset neurodegenerative disease) mutants in Zebrafish. The goal is to identify and understand early molecular changes which may be driving subsequent pathology, in order to inform research into potential avenues for treatment of the disease in humans.
