Emily is a physiotherapist and academic researcher with expertise in child health, wellbeing, and health equity. She completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia in 2006 and returned to Adelaide University (formerly UniSA) in 2022 as a PhD candidate within the Alliance for Research in Exercise, Nutrition and Activity (ARENA).
Her doctoral research examines declines in academic performance, physical health, and mental wellbeing during school holiday periods, with a focus on inequities experienced by children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Her work also explores the potential of structured summer programming to mitigate these declines and promote more equitable outcomes.
Emily has experience as a Clinical Educator for fourth-year physiotherapy students at Adelaide University, contributing to teaching and supervision in clinical education. Her PhD has been submitted, and her research interests include child and adolescent wellbeing, health equity, school-based and out-of-school interventions, and the translation of research into policy and practice.
