Eligible to supervise Masters only (as Co-Supervisor) - email supervisor to discuss availability.

Eileen is the Stream Coordinator of the Radiation Therapy Program in the Allied Health and Human Performance unit. She has a Radiation Therapy clinical background, is active in teaching predominantly, as well as discipline and scholarly research, and professional engagement. The recipient of four teaching awards, her teaching has focussed on clinical skill development and linking theory to practice, through experiential learning and simulation. She has collaborated with radiation therapy educators across institutuons nationally to develop a national clinical assessment tool, implement virtual reality training and promote professional development modules to clinicians. Eileen has publications related to clinical assessment, clinical skill development and interprofessional learning and has co-supervised many Radiation Therapy Honours projects to completion. She sits on advisory panels in an academic capacity within the radiation therapy profession, regularaly participates in summative peer review of teaching and is an inaugaural member of the Teaching Innovation Group.

Eileen has previously supervised 9 Honours students.

Topics:

1. A comparison of Quality of life scores for early stage prostate cancer patients receiving either External Beam RT or brachytherapy.

2. South Australian General Practitioner's understanding of Palliative Radiation therapy.

3. How do Radiation Therapists of Adelaide learn in the workplace?

4. Dosimetric comparison of stereotactic body radiation therapy treatment plans to conformal radiation therapy treatment plans for low-risk localised prostate cancer.

5. Comparing Non-Standard Techniques to Treat Advanced Cancer of the Spine as an Alternative to Conventional Radiation Therapy.

6. A comparison of methods of measuring bladder filling compliance in patients having prostate radiation therapy.

7. The effect of pelvic size in an anthropomorphic phantom on the subjective assessment of radiotherapy image quality by radiation therapists.

8.A retrospective dosimetric study of radiotherapy patients with left-sided breast cancer; patient selection criteria for deep inspiration breath hold technique

9.Patient selection for proton therapy

Eileen has a record of participating in Projects and Grants:

Project Team Member RAH Research Fund grant Jan 2012, "A single-blinded randomised controlled trial to determine the effect of topical application of Calendula officialis based lotion on the prevalence of clinically significant radiation induced dermatis in women undergoing radiotherapy for breast cancer"

UniSA project representative Department of Health and Ageing joint university grant 2011- 2014, to implement Virtual Environment Radiotherapy Training (VERT)

Research Team Member for The use of Simulation in Radiation Science Curricula project. This scoping and consultative study was commissioned by Health Workforce Austalia.

Project Leader for National Radiation Therapy Student Clinical Assessment form project 2007-09. This collaborative project (in conjunction with Queensland University of Technology, RMIT University, University of Newcastle, Monash University and University of Sydney),was funded by the Department of Health and Ageing and has resulted in the development of a new national standard assessment tool. This is now used in all Radiation Therapy sites for all Australian Radiation Therapy Students from July 2009.
