I am a PhD student in Professor Andrew Lowe's lab group. I am mart of the Timber Tracking team.
My PhD is based on the use of DNA and genetic methods to help monitor and control illegal logging of valuable timber species. As part of this i have been involved in the development of a universal DNA extraction protocol for wood and timber samples. I have also developed a set of SNP markers that can be used to identify the origin of Ayous (Triplochiton scleroxylon) an economically important tree species from tropical west Africa
