Derrick Tee

Adelaide Medical School

Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences

Dr Derrick Tee completed his undergraduate medical degree at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland in 2000 and was awarded his UK Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2004. He trained in Gastroenterology in large tertiary hospitals in London, UK before obtaining his MRCP Gastroenterology Specialty Certificate Examination (SCE) in 2010. Following this, he was awarded his higher degree MD (Research) at Imperial College London for his research on intestinal immunology with an emphasis on Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Short Bowel Syndrome under the supervision of Dr. Simon Gabe at St. Mark's Hospital and Prof. Stella Knight at the Antigen Presentation Research Group Imperial College London.

He then spent a year as an advanced endoscopic fellow at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth with Dr. Ian Yusoff and Dr. Dev Segarajasingam where he consolidated his advanced endoscopic skills, mastered endoscopic ultrasound and extended his knowledge on hepato-pancreatico-biliary conditions. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London) and has published several peer review papers and abstracts as well as presented both nationally and internationally.

Dr Tee is a Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Lyell McEwin Hospital and Clinical Lead for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service at the Gastroenterology unit. He is also an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at The University of Adelaide and enjoys teaching both medical students as well as doctors in training.

Dr. Tee is actively involved in research in the field of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and endoscopic ultrasound and heads the IBD research at the North Adelaide Local Health Network Clinical Trials Unit at the Lyell McEwin Hospital.
