Dr Deborah Green is an Associate Professor of Education and Social Wellbeing who is a leading Initial Teacher Education scholar and a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. She has expertise in bullying prevention research with a focus on translation into practical wellbeing solutions for schools, communities, and policymakers. Her work bridges the gap between research, policy, and practice, drawing on over a decade of experience leading projects that address the complex dynamics of bullying, to inform associated youth mental health outcomes.
As a dedicated educator, she brings this expertise into Initial Teacher Education, designing and delivering high-quality teaching in both Humanities and Social Science education and student wellbeing equipping future teachers with the knowledge and skills to foster safe, inclusive, and critically engaged learning environments. Deborah is regularly called upon as a subject matter expert to inform state and national frameworks and curricula and has guided evidence-informed practice in educational and community settings. She is invited to contribute expertise for leading local and national Initial Teacher Education accreditation panels. She chairs the Education Futures Teaching and Learning Strategy Group; is Executive Secretary of Social and Citizenship Education Association of Australia; and inaugural Vice Chair of Humanities and Social Science Association of Australia.
Committed to working collaboratively across sectors to build capacity, influence policy, and drive positive change Deborah combines rigorous research with meaningful engagement and a passion for teaching.  Strategies ensure the centrality of co-participatory practices, youth voice and collaboration. She is regularly invited to provide media commentary on bullying, cyberbullying, social media and student wellbeing.
