Research and teaching interests include typography, reading, designing systems for readers, visual communication design, typographic design, user interface and user experience design, inclusive design, accessible design, digital design and the ethical application of AI to design systems, socio-technical systems design, mixed-methods research, and teaching design not only as an applied, skills-reliant discipline, but also as a conceptual and transformative approach to problem solving.
