Darren is a lecturer at Adelaide University in the School of Art & Design, teaching typography and visual communication design. He holds a PhD (design) and an MA (media). His research explores typographic design, inclusive design and readability. This has led to the development of prototype reading materials to support university students with dyslexia, and other readers. His research relies on designing typographic systems, tested using quantitative and qualitative methods, to inform how reading can be supported. It includes development and testing of novel methodological approaches to support applied design research and inclusive digital reading systems.
