Lecturer
School of Accounting and Finance
College of Business and Law
Daniel M. Orlovsky is a Lecturer in Finance at Adelaide University, with over a decade of tertiary teaching experience across undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional levels. His teaching philosophy centres on real-world, relevant, and applied finance — bringing market realities into the classroom through live data, industry platforms, and current events.
Beyond the classroom, Daniel is an active voice in financial education and public engagement. He co-hosts Finance with DnA alongside colleague Dr. Syed Zamin Ali, a podcast on YouTube that explores how finance works beyond theory. Their flagship series, Finance with Exes, invites former students back to campus to discuss their career journeys and the real-world application of their finance education. Daniel has also contributed to mainstream financial literacy through an expert interview on ABC's Behind the News (BTN), where he explained key investment options — ETFs, shares, crypto, bonds, and superannuation — to a secondary school audience, covering concepts including diversification, risk aversion, and the importance of engaging with your super early.
Daniel regularly designs and delivers customised workshops through the Financial Markets Lab, using industry platforms such as LSEG Workspace and interactive simulations. He has delivered sessions for institutions including Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Guangzhou College of Commerce, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, Tongji University, and Central University of Finance and Economics, as well as secondary schools such as Chongqing No. 8 Middle School, Shanghai Soong Ching Ling School, Beijing Zhengze Middle School, IQRA College, and University Senior College. He also works closely with StudyAdelaide and the Children's University, with regional outreach extending to Port Lincoln.
Daniel has played a leading role in the University's internationalisation efforts through engagement trips to Shanghai, Nanjing, and Beijing — delivering finance demonstration classes, meeting with partner universities, and participating in media promotions with organisations such as New Oriental Vision Overseas Studies (NOVO) and EIC Education. He also contributes to the organisation and delivery of incoming study tours to Adelaide, ensuring high-quality academic, cultural, and industry experiences for international cohorts.
Through teaching, public media, podcasting, and international engagement, Daniel works to strengthen the University's global partnerships, raise its profile, and expand access to financial education for diverse audiences.
