My research focuses on improving the flotation performance of coarse composite particles, which are typically difficult to recover due to detachment .

The study examines how particle characteristics generated during comminution influence flotation behaviour,  comparing products from GRollsĀ® and a rod mill. The study also considers how these coarse particles behave in different flotation environments, particularly mechanically agitated cells and the HydroFloatTM. The aim is to understand how hydrodynamics and particle properties interact to influence attachment stability and overall performance.

A key aspect of my work is exploring strategies to improve flotation of these composites, including collector delivery approaches and the use of extenders such as diesel-based emulsions. This targets improved attachment and reduced detachment without compromising selectivity.

Overall, my research links comminution-driven particle characteristics and reagent chemistry with flotation response, with the goal of optimising coarse composite recovery while maintaining grade.
