Eligible to supervise Masters and PhD - email supervisor to discuss availability.

Daniel obtained his PhD from the University of Birmingham, UK, in 2016. There he worked on developing the new optical modelling software FINESSE (www.gwoptics.org/finesse) which is used for designing and debugging precision interferometric experiments, such as LIGO. Following this he undertook research position in the UK Quantum Hub studying how to enhance atom interferometers with optical cavities. Part of this time was spent visiting the 10m atom fountain experiment at Stanford, USA. He then returned to Gravitational waves in 2017 taking up research post at the the University of Adelaide where he works on local research as well performing on-site and remote commissioning of the LIGO detectors. His current research interests lie in pushing the boundaries of precision optical measurements for enhancing next generation gravitational wave detectors through advanced wavefront sensing and improved numerical modelling methods. As of 2020, he is the chair of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration Advanced Interferometer Configuration (AIC) and the Einstein Telescope Low-Frequency optical design and control scheme working groups.
