Danang Nizar is a Graduate Researcher at Adelaide University researching the interrelationships between mobility, kinship, and familyhood, with a focus on island communities in Bawean Island, Indonesia.
 
Prior to commencing his PhD, he was a Programme Officer at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, where he led regional initiatives on climate change, human mobility, and human rights across the Asia Pacific. He previously worked with the United Nations Development Programme on stakeholder engagement and gender mainstreaming in a sustainable palm oil programme, and with the International Organization for Migration on displacement management in disaster contexts.
 
He holds a Master of Arts in Anthropology of Development and Social Transformation from University of Sussex and a Bachelor of Regional and Town Planning (Hons) from the University of Queensland.
