Ella Connor Davidson is a PhD student at the School of Mathematical Sciences, Adelaide University, with a broad interest in modelling opinion dynamics over complex networks.
Have you ever wondered if opinions around you influence how you think or act?
That question is the crux of my research; I model opinion dynamics over complex networks. My research encompasses many things. I am quite interested in how recommended content on social media platforms influences users' beliefs, behaviours, attitudes and opinions. I am curious about how opinions and actions coevolve in the face of social dilemmas, specifically to understand persistent cooperation in social movements and the growing phenomenon of democratic backslide. I am fascinated by how our opinions and willingness to engage with government messaging affect the spread of viruses in epidemics. To investigate all of that, we can use a range of methods: mathematical models, simulations, mathematical analysis, and real-world data.
