Working in the fields of Intensive Care and Pre-Hospital and Retrieval medicine in Adelaide, with a practice spanning general and cardiothoracic ICU and pre-hospital and retrieval medicine, Dr Smith's work sits at the intersection of bedside care, clinical governance, and medical education to improve quality of care provided to South Australians. Clinical and academic interests include critical care diagnostics (respiratory infection), cardiothoracic intensive care and ECMO, airway management and peri-procedural safety, clinical governance, mortality review, and quality improvement, in addition to medical education and curriculum design within postgraduate medical education.
