Chloe Blacket is a Lecturer in Exercise and Sport Science and Clinical Exercise Physiology. She is also an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). Chloe completed her PhD in 2024, specialising in exericse psychology and motivation in sustaining running activity. Behaviour change and motivational interviewing are key components of her research, marrying behavioural psychology and exercise science to support people to achieve their goals.
My research explores behaviour change processes in active and clinical populations, with a strong focus on physical activity participation and long-term maintenance. I am particularly interested in the psychological and motivational factors that shape running participation, including why people continue or discontinue running over time. Using theory-based approaches, my work examines motivation and psychological factors on sustained engagement, and how to translate this evidence into scalable interventions to support ongoing participation and lifelong health benefits.
