I am a PhD candidate with the Centre for Orthopaedic and Trauma Research (COTR). I have a particular interest in investigating ways to safely and efficiently introduce new hip implant designs. I hope to be able to promote patient safety and provide earliest clinical evidence for orthopaedic companies to ensure long-term success of new hip implant designs.
Throughout my candidature, I will investigate patient and implant factors that may contribute to the excessive migration of the acetabular hip implant by using highly sensitive radiographic imaging technique called Radiostereometric Analysis (RSA). By analysing early migration RSA data and with collaboration from national and international athroplasty registries my PhD project aims to predict orthopaedic hip implant failures at the earliest time point.
