School of Computer Science and Information Technology
College of Engineering and Information Technology
Eligible to supervise Masters and PhD - email supervisor to discuss availability.
Dr Chandimal Jayawardena received his BScEng (Hons) and MEng degrees in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, and obtained his PhD in Robotics and Intelligent Systems from Saga University, Japan, in 2006. He also holds a Master of Higher Education (MHEd) from the University of Otago, New Zealand. He has extensive experience in both industry and academia, and has undertaken postdoctoral research at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, contributing to the design and development of socially assistive robotic systems for healthcare applications.
He is currently a Lecturer in Cybersecurity, with expertise spanning cybersecurity, network engineering, intelligent systems, and robotics. His current research focuses on the development of resilient and intelligent systems to address emerging cyber threats.
Chandimal is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and has over 18 years of experience as a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)-level instructor, reflecting strong engagement with industry practices in networking and cybersecurity.
He maintains an active research profile with publications in internationally recognised journals and supervises postgraduate and doctoral research in cybersecurity and intelligent systems. His current research interests include the application of Digital Twin technologies for enhancing cybersecurity resilience, along with broader interests in artificial intelligence and robotics.
His work bridges theoretical research and practical application, with a focus on developing secure, adaptive, and human-aware systems that address real-world engineering challenges.
