Chanaka is a diligent and versatile university lecturer and researcher with 8+ years of experience working in the higher education industry. Before his current appointment as a lecturer in International Business at the Adelaide Business School, Chanaka served as a teaching assistant at the Monash Business School - Melbourne and as a senior lecturer in International Business at the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka. In his current role with the Adelaide Business School, he designs, organizes and delivers lectures as a course coordinator for several undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He is also the program director of the Master of International Management and the Bachelor of Business in International Business programs. Chanaka's research interests emphasise the internationalization process of SMEs in developing countries and the micro-foundation of internationalization decisions. His PhD thesis looked into the factors that drive the export opportunity exploration behaviour of domestic small- to medium-enterprise (SME) owner-managers in a small developing country, Sri Lanka. He has presented his work at some of the leading academic conferences in his field, such as the Academy of International Business and the British Academy of Management. As an Early-Career Researcher, Chanaka has also published several research articles on international entrepreneurship and SME internationalization.
