Dr Chanaka Wijewardena is a Lecturer in International Business in the School of Management, College of Business and Law, at Adelaide University, where he is also Program Director for the Master of International Business and Graduate Diploma in International Business. He has more than a decade of experience in higher education, including academic appointments at Monash Business School and the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He holds a PhD in International Business from Monash University.
 
His research examines the intersection of international business, entrepreneurship and sustainability. His principal areas of inquiry are the internationalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises and its micro-foundations; social entrepreneurship and the mobilisation of impact investment; and the climate strategy and corporate conduct of multinational enterprises. His research has been published in Management International Review, Critical Perspectives on International Business and Review of International Business and Strategy, and in edited volumes from Edward Elgar. He works with a broad network of collaborators in Australia and internationally.
 
Chanaka brings substantial experience in academic leadership and curriculum innovation. As Program Director, he provides strategic and operational leadership for International Business programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has led the design and development of new degree programs, built external academic partnerships, and developed courses for both face-to-face and online delivery. His teaching combines research-informed content with industry perspectives to prepare graduates for the complexities of contemporary global business.
 
He serves on the Editorial Board of Review of International Business and Strategy and received the 2025 Best Reviewer Award at the Academy of International Business (AIB) Oceania Conference. He reviews regularly for leading international journals and conferences and has held organising and track-chair roles within the AIB community. He is also committed to engagement with industry and alumni, fostering connections between students, the business community and the university.
