I am a population health researcher (behavioural sciences & health promotion and evaluation) at SAHMRI Women and Kids. My current research focuses on implementation and dissemination of an omega-3 screening program to prevent preterm births in South Australia.I hold a Bachelor of Business Marketing and Master of Research in Population Health Practice. I have a cross-disciplinary background in social marketing, health promotion and population health. Specifically, my research areas have focused on studying consumer behaviour and advertising to achieve better health outcomes at the population level through mass-media promotion, health translation and implementation as well as conducting health evaluations. I have been involved in the leading, design and dissemination of both state-wide and nation-wide communication strategies. Some examples include working alongside industry, including media agencies and associated stakeholders to inform the production of a mass-media, television, and radio advertising campaign to deter illicit drug behaviours within South Australia. I also have experience within social media marketing and mobile health apps, focusing on encouraging the uptake and sustainment of physical activity behaviours amongst population subgroups within Australia. The project was part of a larger National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) project, for which the team and I were recently awarded the International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity’s (ISBNPA) 2020 Commendation for Research Excellence Award.
My research focuses on health translation and promotion using social marketing and health behaviour change theories to better health outcomes at the population level.
