Urban biospheres and public health.
I explore how people interact with urban nature on a day to day basis. The meanings, values and aspirations held by urban residents with regard to nature are key areas of research focus. I also examine how leaders and decision makers go about working with living infrastructure and what challenges they face. My research has an applied emphasis. I aim to contribute to more efficient and imaginative ways of building healthier cities. The benefits of well managed living infrastructure are significant. But better translation of research is vital for collaboration, innovation and developing the potential of this vital dimension of nature. My vision is the creation of novel, diverse and robust living infrastructure that increases the beauty and functionality of cities into the future.
