I am deeply passionate about research involving the well-being and health of livestock including preventing diseases, safeguarding against threats, and addressing stress-related issues. Currently, I'm part of the University of Adelaide's Davies Livestock Research Center, where I work on various projects related to livestock health. My main goal is to conduct research that benefits Australia's beef and cattle industries by providing practical and achievable solutions.

Before joining the University of Adelaide, I held two postdoctoral positions. The first was with Massey University's EpiCentre where I contributed to a project funded by government through their  Sustainable Farming Fund initiative. This project exploried the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of different national control programme options for BVDV whilst also understanding the effects of, and current management practices, of BVD in New Zealand beef herds.

Following this, I spent almost three years with CQ University Australia, working with their Precision Livestock Management team. During this time, I applied my knowledge of sheep health and disease to an industry-funded project. This project aimed to test the commercialization of the Australian Wool Industry (AWI) smart ear tag and assess the capability of on-animal sensors to detect issues like dog attacks and diseases in sheep.

I earned my PhD from the University of Adelaide in 2018, where my research focused on the clinical and epidemiological effects of BVDV on sheep and other non-bovine species in Australia. After completing my PhD, I gained additional experience in livestock health as a veterinary technician at the University's Production Animal Health Centre.

My current research areas involve:

Investigating trace mineral deficiencies in rangeland cattle in South Australia.

Identifying strategies and supplements to reduce stress in weaner lambs.

Studying the prevalence of diseases in feral deer and goat populations in South Australia and understanding how they might transmit diseases to or from domesticated livestock.

Exploring how heat stress affects the ability of rams and ewes to regulate their body temperature and reproduce successfully, while also finding ways to mitigate the impact of heat stress on sheep.
