Brittany Hogben's research takes an interdisciplinary approach to preventing illegal logging and the associated trade. Her work seeks to characterise the timber trade across the Asia-pacific region and develop a forensic tool kit to trace the provenance of illegally sourced timber products.

Brittany completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Adelaide, finishing her honours year with the Australian Centre for Ancient DNA (ACAD) in 2022. She has since spent multiple years working as a laboratory technician at the Advanced DNA Identification and Forensic Facility (ADIFF), where she supported ongoing projects in timber tracking, environmental DNA and genetic resource management.

Supervised by Prof. Andrew Lowe, Prof. Phill Cassey and Dr Arif Malik, Brittany's project is supported by the ARC Industry Laureate Grant "Combatting wildlife crime and preventing environmental harm". She has a keen interest in wildlife forensics, and is a student member of the Society for Wildlife Forensic Science (SWFS).
