Binota Bose Britya is a PhD candidate at the Adelaide Law School, University of Adelaide, working under the supervision of Professor P.T. Babie and Professor Peter Burdon. Her doctoral research examines transboundary water governance through a human rights lens, with a particular focus on policy design, institutional accountability, and law‑ and policy‑reform pathways for water‑dependent communities affected by cross‑border water management.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Master of Laws in Comparative International Law from the Bangladesh University of Professionals. Her academic training is grounded in environmental law, comparative international and domestic legal analysis, and governance reform, with sustained attention to how legal frameworks and institutional arrangements can be strengthened through evidence‑based and context‑sensitive approaches. Alongside her academic work, Binota has professional experience as an Apprentice Lawyer in Bangladesh, where she supported legal research, regulatory compliance, and procedural coordination. This practice‑oriented background informs her research perspective, particularly in relation to institutional functioning, access to justice, and accountability gaps in environmental and resource governance. Her broader research interests include transboundary water law, environmental human rights, sustainability governance, and institutional design, with an emphasis on bridging scholarly analysis, policy development, and practical governance challenges at both domestic and international levels. Binota is particularly interested in interdisciplinary collaboration and research‑informed solutions to complex environmental and human rights problems.

Binota Bose Britya is a doctoral researcher examining transboundary water governance through the right to a safe environment, with a particular focus on South Asia and how legal and institutional frameworks affect water‑dependent communities. Her research analyses policy design, institutional accountability, and law‑ and policy‑reform pathways in cross‑border water governance, addressing gaps between legal norms and governance practice. Through this work, she aims to contribute research‑informed insights capable of informing law and policy reform in areas such as environmental governance, sustainability, climate adaptation, and regional and international water cooperation.
