Anran (Ariella) Zhao is a first-year PhD student at the University of Adelaide. Her research focuses on the monitoring and inspection of urban sewer systems using both acoustic and hydraulic approaches, with the aim of mitigating issues such as inflow and infiltration (I/I) and pipeline blockages.
My research integrates laboratory experiments, three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and one-dimensional modelling to investigate flow behaviour and system responses under varying conditions. Signal processing and machine learning techniques are further employed to analyse data and facilitate efficient, automated detection of anomalies in sewer networks.
