Dr. Anwar Mulugeta is a Research Associate at the Nutritional and Genetic Epidemiology Research Group. With over five years of experience as a steering committee member at the Australian Centre for Precision Health, he brings a wealth of expertise to his role. Dr. Mulugeta holds a Ph.D. in Genetic Epidemiology (awarded in 2020), an M.Pharm in Medical Pharmacology (completed in 2011), and a B.Pharm in Pharmacy (completed in 2008). He is also affiliated with the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy at Addis Ababa University (AAU), Ethiopia. Prior to this, he served as a Clinical Trial Coordinator for a collaborative project between AAU and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Mulugeta's primary research focus lies in understanding the contributions of genetics and the environment, as well as the intricate interplay between them, in relation to disease risk. His research covers a broad spectrum of health outcomes, including cognitive impairment, dementia, depression, cancers, and various other health conditions. To accomplish this, he employs a diverse range of genetic and bioinformatic approaches, such as Mendelian randomizations, phenome-wide associations, genome-wide associations, gene-environment interactions, and machine-learning techniques.
