I'm currently undertaking a PhD focused on the role of cytokines in neuronal injury and neurodegenerative diseases. This involves analysis of postmortem brain tissue from patients with Alzheimer's Disease and Motor Neurone Disease as well as in-vivo and in-vitro studies following neuronal injury.

Recent studies show that age-related increase in inflammatory status, as measured by elevated levels of inflammatory cytokines, may determine the progression of age-related neurodegenerative diseases. My area of research is focused on the role of cytokines in neuronal injury and neurodegenerative diseases. This involves analysis of postmortem brain tissue from patients with Alzheimer's Disease and Motor Neurone Disease as well as in-vivo and in-vitro studies following neuronal injury.
