I am an architect, educator, and researcher currently pursuing a PhD in Architecture at the University of Adelaide, Australia. My doctoral research focuses on collaboration in architectural studio pedagogy, specifically examining how collaborative practices in architectural studio education contribute to students’ preparation for professional practice. My experiences as an architect and educator have helped me frame my research area.I hold a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut, India, and a Master of Architecture (M.Arch) in Building Management from Sathyabama University, Chennai, where I was awarded the gold medal.Professionally, I have over five years of experience as an architect and educator. I worked as an architect in Kuwait with leading firms such as KEO International Consultants and ARCHJS. In India, I served as a BIM Architect and Team Lead, contributing to a range of complex design projects in the Middle East and Australia. As an educator, I have taught in architectural institutions across India, including the Sushant School of Architecture (Gurgaon), Amity University (Kolkata), and SCMS School of Architecture (Kochi). I am currently involved in tutoring design studio courses at the University of Adelaide.
My research focuses on architectural pedagogy by seeking to understand how to foster an inclusive and collaborative culture in architectural design studios. My study aims to analyze current teaching practices through collaboration, identify the existing challenges of collaborative design pedagogy, how it is being facilitated, and what the best practices are. This study also addresses a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of architectural education: the student’s sense of belonging and wellbeing in studios.
