After a career in academia of some 35 years Dr Ann McNeill retired from undergraduate teaching and research project management in December 2014. She was awarded the status of Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Agriculture, Food & Wine and remains active as a postgraduate supervisor, a mentor to young research staff and in the communication of issues associated with Soil Science and Agronomy in Agricultural Systems to a wide range of audiences. In recognition of her achievements in this arena she received the 2015 Teakle Award from the Soil Science Society of Australia. During 2016 she contributed to the Decadal Plan for Agriculture published by the National Committee for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food within the Australian Academy of Science, and by invitation from the Australian Soil Science Society presented the 2016 Leeper Lecture at Melbourne University.
Currently Associate Professor McNeill is a member of the Research Adoption Committee for the Co-operative Research Centre for High Performance Soils (Soils CRC) which provides oversight of the research activities of the CRC and advice to the Board and CEO. She is also an active member of the ATSE SA Crawford Fund Committee involved in funding collaborative agricultural research projects between Australian and overseas partners.
