Ankur Singh joined Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health (ARCPOH), The University of Adelaide in April 2014 as a Ph.D. student. He graduated in dental surgery from India and completed his M.Sc. in Dental Public Health from University College London, UK. He submitted his Ph.D. thesis in July 2017 and is currently employed as a Research Fellow in Social Epidemiology at the University of Melbourne.

I have specific research interests in the areas of health inequalities, social and societal determinants of health, application of socio-epidemiologic theories, oral health promotion and tobacco control. I joined Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health in 2014 as a Ph.D. student and my thesis topic is entitled 'Theoretical explanations and empirical evidence for the relationship between income inequality and population oral health'. My Ph.D. thesis examined the theoretical basis for the relationship relationship between income inequality and population oral health, and tested association between area-level income inequality and oral health outcomes in Australian context. My methodological interest is in the application of multilevel modelling in quantifying population and individual variations in health outcomes and to understand its determinants at different levels of social organization. I also have research interests in methods for evidence synthesis. Before joining ARCPOH I worked as a Research Associate with Department of Health Promotion and Tobacco Control, Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), New Delhi where I contributed in several projects including an evaluation of National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India. My Master's thesis assessed social inequalities in clustering of oral health behaviours among British adults.
