Dr Andina Munawar

Dr Munawar is a Cardiac Electrophysiologist in the North Adelaide Local Health Network, South Australia and appointed as a HonoraryClinical Senior Lecturer in the Adelaide Medical School, the University of Adelaide.Dr Munawar graduated from the University of Indonesia, Jakarta, Indonesia, in August 2006. She completed her cardiology training from University of Indonesia and National Cardiac Centre Harapan Kita, Jakarta, Indonesia in 2013. She then undertook fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Binawaluya Cardiac Centre, Jakarta, Indonesia in 2014. She worked in an academic position as a lecturer in Cardiology department, university of Indonesia, prior to undertaking Electrophysiology and Pacing Fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. During this time, she also completed his PhD at The University of Adelaide.
The work from her PhD have provided comprehensive understanding of factors affecting short-term and long-term clinical outcomes of the CIEDs in order to improve clinical outcomes after CIEDs implantation. These include the understanding of basic electrochemistry of the CIED generator, factors related to acute complication during CIED implantation procedure, clinical outcomes after implants, including development of pulmonary hypertension and utilisation of CIED algorithms in order to provide optimal clinical outcomes of patients with CIEDs, and general consideration of magnetic resonance imaging in patients with CIEDs, particularly in non-MRI conditional devices. During her PhD, she has published several publications in Q1 journals (Heart Rhythm Journals 2018 and 2019, and Europace 2020). In addition, one of her projects was awarded as a featured research from 38th Heart Rhythm Annual Scientific Session 2017.
