Dr Alfred Krzywicki

Lecturer

School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences

Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology

I am a lecturer at the University of Adelaide, School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (CMS). I obtained my PhD in 2012 from the University of New South Wales, Sydney in the area of natural language processing and personal agents. Until 2019 I worked as a Research Fellow at UNSW on research related to recommendation systems, natural language processing and pattern mining. Research projects were funded by industry and research institutions, including Fairfax Digital, Data to Decision CRC and Rich Data Corporation, and included both commercial and research outcomes.
From 2020 I started my teaching career, first at the University of New South Wales, currently at the University of Adelaide.in teaching, I use my research and industry experience to inspire and students and prepare them for their future career.
Before joining academia, I worked as senior Software Engineer and consultant in a high volume transaction processing environment.

My research interests include Natural Language Processing, recommendation systems and pattern mining, and combination of the above. For example, using NLP for discovering item and user similarity in recommendation systems.

My recent publication with collaboration with UNSW Sydney, was on sequential pattern mining in financial data.
