I am an environmental geoscientist with extensive experience in the application of sedimentary, major element, isotope analyses. I develop and use novel tools to research on the interplay between climate, humans, and landscapes in Japan, Australia, the Mediterranean, and in Polar Russia. My research in the Mediterranean and Polar Russia are part of three international multidisciplinary projected funded under the umbrella of the International Continental Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP). I reconstruct landscape dynamics with metal (Nd, Sr, U) isotope analyses to trace sediment sources and sediment transport. I compare this novel proxy to ecologic (pollen) and traditional climate proxies including sedimentary and element geochemistry, incl. oxygen isotope analyses to diatom frustules, phytoliths and siderites, and strontium isotopes to carbonates to reconstruct past hydrological changes.
