Dr. Alaknanda Alaknanda undertook her postgraduate work at the University of Adelaide for which she was awarded a PhD in 2017 for her work on developing targeted therapies for hard to treat solid cancers such as sarcomas and triple negative breast cancers. Subsequently, she joined the Ovarian and Reproductive Cancer Biology lab headed by Prof. Darryl Russell in 2017.
The focus of her current research is to understand the molecular mechanisms that regulate egg development and ovulation in the ovary. Her aims are to
1. delineate genes that govern ovulation
2. using high-throughput screens identify non-hormonal contraceptives
