Associate Professor Adam Montagu is Director of Adelaide Health Simulation (AHS) at the University of Adelaide, leading one of Australasia’s most technologically advanced simulation centres that aims to enhance patient safety, interprofessional learning, and clinical readiness.
Adam is an Education Specialist with the Adelaide Education Academy and began his career as a Registered Nurse in adult emergency care—experience that grounds his leadership and teaching practice.
Under Adam’s leadership, AHS has achieved international accreditation with the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), accredited in Teaching/Education and Research. His work showcases how human factors, simulated patients, and advanced technologies (including EMR-in-simulation and immersive/VR environments) can elevate assessment and learning at scale.
Adam’s teaching excellence has been extensively recognised, for example, the University of Adelaide’s 2022 Stephen Cole the Elder Award and the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Learning & Teaching, and he was a finalist for South Australia’s STEMM Educator of the Year (University/RTO) in 2023.
