I am a PhD student at the Adelaide University, specialising in biomedical and mechanical engineering with a focus on sinus-targeted drug delivery. My research centres on the design and optimisation of acoustic inhalers to deliver aerosolised drug particles to the maxillary and frontal sinuses, aiming to improve treatment outcomes for patients with chronic rhinosinusitis. In my project, I combine experimental acoustics with advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling to better understand airflow and particle transport in patient-specific nasal geometries. I also use CFD-based “virtual surgery” of the nasal cavity to explore and evaluate optimal surgical pathways that can enhance airflow and, ultimately, the efficiency of targeted drug delivery. More broadly, I am interested in translational research at the interface of medical device design, personalised surgery planning, and respiratory biomechanics. I enjoy collaborating with clinicians and engineers to develop practical solutions that can be integrated into clinical workflows and improve patients’ quality of life.
