Wahid Murad is a senior lecturer with demonstrated expertise in multidisciplinary teaching and research. He currently leads and delivers undergraduate courses in statistical, economic, and financial literacies and postgraduate courses in research design and methods as well as public policy. His research interests span environmental and development economics, climate change economics and management, and self-regulated learning and the academic success of students in enabling pathways education.
 
Wahid has led multiple funded research projects and collaborated with scholars from 22 institutions across 17 countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, France, India, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Vietnam.
 
An accomplished economist with 23 years of experience in higher education, Wahid brings extensive expertise in research leadership, data analysis, policy design, and strategic knowledge management. His research aligns with 16 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), generating impactful insights that inform policy and are published in high-impact international journals. Wahid is widely recognised for his contributions to socioeconomic development and environmental sustainability, particularly those addressing poverty reduction, environmental degradation, and climate resilience.
 
Wahid’s scholarly impact includes over 4,000 citations (Google Scholar, Scopus, or Web of Science), with an h-index of 24 and an i10-index of 51. He serves as associate editor of the International Journal of Climate Change Strategies and Management and as an academic editor for PLOS Climate.
His research has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Environment and Development, Waste Management and Research, Journal of Public Health Policy, Environmental Progress and Sustainable Energy, Renewable Energy, Ecological Indicators, International Journal of Climate Change Strategies and Management, International Journal of Innovation and Sustainable Development, International Journal of Environment and Sustainable Development, Management of Environmental Quality, Journal of Environmental Health, Letters in Spatial and Resource Sciences, and the American Journal of Environmental Sciences, among others.
 
Wahid’s research has informed policy development at national and international levels. His work has been cited in:

A proven academic leader, Wahid has demonstrated sustained educational leadership across universities in Australia and Malaysia through course coordination, curriculum design, HDR supervision, mentoring, and academic governance.

My research encompasses environmental and development economics as well as student motivation, with a particular focus on inclusive assessment practices that foster student engagement, academic achievement, and equity.
