Thanks for visiting the home page of Bec Perry. Bec is the Program Director as well as the Cardiac program stream coordinator for the Medical Sonography programs within the Adelaide University School of Allied Health and Human Performance. She has been a clinical cardiac sonographer since 1998 and has been involved in research and advanced echocardiographic techniques since 2003. She has extensive experience in advanced echocardiographic techniques such as strain and 3-D echocardiography. She completed her PhD in 2013 and has presented extensively both nationally and internationally as an abstract presenter, invited speaker and member of faculty.  She completed her Post-Doctoral Fellowship through the National Heart Foundation based at Flinders University in 2018. She has published abstracts, manuscripts and a book chapter on topics such as artificial intelligence, dyssynchrony, coronary vasomotion, speckle tracking, strain and 3-D echocardiography.

  • Advanced echocardiography to predict the development of cancer therapy related cardiac dysfunction
  • The role of artificial intelligence to reduce the risk of sonographer injury without compromising the results of the scan
  • Phenotyping the hearts of Australian professional jockeys
  • Advanced cardiac imaging in Fabry disease
  • Right ventricular free wall strain in prediction of pulmonary artery hypertension
