Dr Louise Wiles

Project Manager, EQUIPP Partnership

School of Allied Health and Human Performance

College of Health

Dr Louise Wiles is 'Project Manager: EQUIPP Partnership' within the IIMPACT Group (UniSA Allied Health & Human Performance), at the University of South Australia. I am also an Honorary Research Fellow at Macquarie University (within the Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science) and AHPRA registered physiotherapist.

The projects that I have worked on align to my three main areas of interest:
Appropriate (quality) health care
CareTrack Aged (NHMRC Project Grant APP1143223) assessed the appropriateness of residents’ care and their quality of life in Australian aged care facilities.  Our work on the CareTrack Kids project (NHMRC Partnership Grant APP1065898) saw the development, testing, and analysis of over 450 ‘quality’ indicators that were applied in a large-scale medical record audit of nearly 7000 Australian children.
E-health
In collaboration with Professor Lorimer Moseley’s Persistent Pain Challenge group (IIMPACT in Health), we developed and piloted an e-health intervention (PECAN) aimed at reducing pain for breast cancer survivors. This work follows on from the STANDING Collaboration study (NHMRC Program Grant: Creating safe, effective systems of care: The translational challenge APP1054146) which tested a new method for developing recommendations for appropriate/quality care with stakeholders, and was evaluated using multi-methods analyses. The ultimate objective of this research stream is to co-create scientifically accurate and meaningful information with and for consumers.
Consumer engagement
Consumer engagement underpins much of my work. I recently led a systematic review of ‘Consumer engagement in health care policy, research and services: methods and effects’ using a novel approach to partner with stakeholders across all stages of the review process.

Louise is currently supervising three HDR (Higher Degree Research) candidates and is always keen to discuss potential research topics especially in areas related to measuring and/or improving the quality of health care, e-health and consumer engagement.
If you are interested in collaborating, or just having a chat, please feel free to drop me an email.
