Dr. Jack Blaikie is a lecturer, course coordinator, and early-career researcher at UniSA. Teaching topics spanning the Biological Sciences, Jack's focus is on providing engaging, student-focussed education in the modern age by integrating digital media-rich learning with traditional approaches. 
Dr. Blaikie holds a Bachelor of Medical Science (Flinders University), a Bachelor of Biomedical Research (Honours, UniSA) and a Doctor of Philosohy in Molecular Microbiology (UniSA). Dr. Blaikie's scholarship-funded PhD was awarded in 2024 and focused on the WHO-recognised priority pathogen Klebsiella pneumoniae, in a lab funded by an NHMRC grant awarded to combat antimicrobial resistance. This work sought to identify genetic resistance determinants and protein mutations which afford Klebsiella pneumoniae high levels of antibiotic resistance. Through the use of traditional microbiological techniques in tandem with breakthrough bioinformatic computational analysis, this research helped to combat the disease burden of this pathogen; informed future endeavours; and resulted in peer-reviewed publications.
Jack has worked at UniSA since 2020, and in addition to Jack's teaching and research experience he has also worked within UniSA Education Futures as a Course Development Coordinator, working to transition to the new Adelaide University.
