I am a doctoral candidate specialising in fluid mechanics, with a background in civil engineering and water science. My research concerns turbulent boundary layers and the fundamental physics of how complex surfaces influence near-wall turbulence. I am interested in the interaction between surfaces and fluid flow as a problem of both, mechanism and design, and in how altering geometry and material influences drag and performance. My aim is to obtain an understanding that remains valid beyond single configurations, and that can be carried from controlled boundary layer studies to questions in high performance engineering and energy/environmental applications.
