Dr. Lothar Ratschbacher is a researcher in Dr. Andy Boes’ PIC team at the Precision Measurement Group.
Before his time at the University of Adelaide, he led the Embedded AI Research Group at the applied electronic research institute Silicon Austria Labs, where he oversaw projects integrating artificial intelligence with advanced measurement and sensing systems. He previously worked as a lead space system engineer for instrument performance on the Meteosat Third Generation Satellite’s Infrared Sounder instrument, and held an Alexander-von-Humbold Postdoctoral Fellowship position at the University of Bonn on cavity-enhanced light-matter interfaces 
Dr. Ratschbacher earned his PhD in Experimental Physics from the University of Cambridge, where he investigated an atom-ion hybrid quantum system, and completed his master’s research under Nobel laureate Anton Zeilinger at the Technical University of Vienna.
