Mr Venkatesh Kamaraj
Higher Degree by Research Candidate
School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Science
College of Health
Venkatesh Kamaraj is an HDR candidate in the Computational Cancer Immunogenomics Laboratory, led by Dr. Stefano Mangiola, at the South Australian Immunogenomics Cancer Institute (SAiGENCI), University of Adelaide.
Venkatesh holds an undergraduate degree in Engineering Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. Before joining SAiGENCI, he was a Project Scientist at the Centre for Integrative Biology and Systems Medicine, IIT Madras. There, he developed novel computational frameworks to analyze large-scale genome graphs, identifying population-specific structural complexities and functional features in human genomes. He also contributed to the GenomeIndia Project, a landmark national initiative to understand the genetic diversity of Indian populations.
His current research at SAiGENCI focuses on studying the immune system's behavior in cancer using large-scale single-cell data. By integrating bioinformatics, systems biology, and data science, he aims to gain a better understanding of immune regulation, cellular diversity, and disease mechanisms in cancer.
